NORTH HAWAII HOSPICE TO PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL CAREGIVERS DAY
~Homegrown succulents to be distributed to Caregivers on Friday, February 18, 2022, ~
(Waimea, Hawai’i Island)- February 18, 2022- North Hawaii Hospice, a community based non-profit hospice organization that helps seriously ill patients and their loved ones maintain quality of life even at the end of life, is honored to participate in National Caregivers Day by providing locally-grown, potted succulents to caregivers throughout North Hawaii on Friday, February 18, 2022.
“Caregivers play a vital role in the work of Hospice,” shares Katherine Werner Brooks, MHA, BSN, Executive Director of North Hawaii Hospice. “We thought it was only fitting that we take a moment to honor those who work so tirelessly and give them a gesture of our appreciation. There are many kinds of caregivers, family caregiver, professional caregiver, independent caregiver, private duty caregiver, and informal caregiver. Some of them are not always paid, so we feel it is essential to recognize them.”
The succulents are available for pick-up through Saturday, February 26 at various locations throughout North Hawaii, including North Hawaii Hospice, Waimea, Kamehameha Pharmacy, Kapaau, KTA Pharmacy, Waikoloa, Honoka’a Cafe, Honokaa as well as several other healthcare offices.
National Caregivers Day is observed on the third Friday in February — on February 18 this year. The day honors individuals who selflessly provide personal care and physical- and emotional support to those who need it most.
