Grief is experienced differently for each person. It is a process that takes time. It cannot be rushed, but it can be nurtured. North Hawaii Hospice offers ongoing bereavement services in the form of individual counseling and support groups.
There are no fees for groups or individual appointments.
Individual Support, Family Support, and Support for Children
Individual counseling support is available to both hospice families and community members who have lost a loved one.

Individual support is offered and can be arranged to meet your schedule.

These programs offer several options so that adults and children experiencing loss can benefit from the supportive environment of others going through similar situations.
Grief Circle of Support
While grief is a highly individualized experience, participation in a support group often helps healing begin. Bereavement support is often successful in helping people to identify their difficulties and begin to adjust to a new phase in life. Share and learn from others in a safe environment.
Offers a safe, mutually supportive environment for sharing experiences, insight and encouragement through mutual support, discussion and handouts. *Group needs 4 or more.
Caregivers Circle of Support
Are you caring for a family member or friend? Please stop by for support and encouragement. Learn helpful tips and ways you can take care of yourself during this challenging time. Meet with other caregivers and learn from their experiences.
Available to those who are caring for a family member or friend. Offers support and encouragement. Helpful tips and ways you can take care of yourself during this challenging time. *Group needs 4 or more.
Holiday Support Group – Coping during the Holidays
Managing grief in times of celebration can be overwhelming. Come and be supported while learning strategies to manage the mixed and painful emotions that can surface during the holidays. *Group needs 4 or more.
Widows and Widowers – Circle of Support
The group will plan and participate in discussion topics, activities, films to watch, and more, while supporting each other in their future journey. *Group needs 4 or more.
School-Based Student Support Groups
A six-week educational group provided in the schools. Each group will consist of age-appropriate coping skills, ways to express feelings through arts and crafts, activities, and projects to memorialize loved ones. A school support group helps students to not feel so isolated and to gain support from peers.
Community Bereavement (Churches and Businesses)
Support can be offered at business locations for both groups and individuals. For employees who suffer the loss of a co-worker or family member, having support at their workplace can support their healing process.
Groups can be held at churches for members who have lost their loved ones.
